Winners of the Canadian Video Game Awards – April 21st
This past weekend AO radio was down at the 1st annual Fan Expo in Vancouver, BC, checking out all things, comics, anime, horror and of course GAMING!. This time around working in conjunction with the Fan Expo the 3rd annual Canadian Video Game Awards sponsored by Futureshop and hosted by the hilarious David Hayter (Famous for the voice of Solid Snake in the Metal Gear series) were held on April 21st at the Vancouver Convention Center. The show included music by the local Vancouver band “The Odds” and with David Genn from 54-40′s on the keyboards playing rock renditions from the games that were nominated for best original music.
Some of the highlights include both Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery and Deus Ex: Human Revolution both taking five awards. What had the audience scratching their heads was how FIFA Soccer 12 someone managed to take the coveted “Game of The Year”….
Alpha Omega Radio would like to give a shout out for composer Jim Guthrie with his win on Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery EP!

Any thoughts on the winners? The fact that FIFA 2012 came in from literally no where beating out Deus Ex, Assasin’s Creed and Indie Show shocker Super Brothers: Sword & Sworcery EP for game of the year was quite an anti-climatic moment as it had barely any recognition within the other categories. However to have a small indie take on the heavy AAA title companies in an award show is much more fasicinating to watch oppposed to most highly recognized “SpikeTV, GDC awards, etc, leaving the larger studios to duke it out.
We can’t wait to see what the 4rth annual Canadian Video game awards will bring! (Just better not be FIFA Soccer 2013….)
