Alright so we got Legend of Zelda, Meshuggah and megabeardo, what other awesome can we tell you??!?

Megabeardo’s past works “Belmont” and “Mega Beardo: A Mega Man 2 Guitar Tribute” used drum programming. “Belmont” is truly epic and probably my favorite album out of these two. Which you can listen till your eyes shed tears of rainbows and awesome right here!

This time around he has brought along fellow VGM arranger and drummer Angel Hernandez! “Masikus”. You can check out some behind the scencs footage of Angel’s drum tracking session on the album.

Before the world exploded last year Angel released his debut album “Versus” a 6 track homage to classic VGM from Sonic the Hedghog, Street Fighter 2010, Contra, Castlevania 2, Super Metroid and the Legend of Zelda.

Austin Wintory, the first video game composer to be nominated for a Grammy for his work on the Journey soundtrack, is now scoring a new game. Phosphor Studio has worked with Wintory before on the Horn soundtrack, and now they’ve signed him on for their new “Project Awakened.” There are no samples to check out yet, but $25 on their Kickstarter will get you a pre-release digital copy of the soundtrack. They have a fair chunk of money to get in the next 4 days, so head on over and see if Project Awakened tickles your fancy – if for no other reason than to get us one step closer to another Wintory soundtrack.

Disasterpeace, the chiptune artist who did the amazing Fez soundtrack, has more chiptuney soundtrack goodness for us to enjoy. He just released “Runner2 EP”, an EP of 5 songs for upcoming BitTrip Runner 2. These tracks are the background for the retro mode levels in the game, and they’re great fun to listen to. Siren of the VGM world award-winning vocalist Jillian Aversa has just launched a brand new website as well a short teaser trailer of her upcoming album “Atlantis Awakening”. Jillian has provided her talents on AAA titles such as Sid Meier’s Civilization V, Halo: Combat Evolved, Soul Calibur V and God of War:Ghost of Sparta.

“Atlantis Awakening” is her third solo album succeeding her past works “Through Sand and Snow” and “Origins”. This new album will be released sometime in Spring 2013. The trailer unfortunately doesn’t showcase her vocals but includes some ambient music from the album.

Welcome to the worbly, awkward, and down right retro world of RETROLOGY! Presented by Alpha Omega Radio.

This new series showcases classic games from the 80′s and 90′s, and follows our would be scientist, Suezo, as he looks to analyze, observe and play the games of his childhood.

Aided by his trusty (we use this term loosely) gameboy, the Koji 02-2571, Suezo is going to explore the virtual horizon of games from the NES to the Dreamcast.

Lorne Balfe, composer behind approximately a million different soundtracks including those for Assassin’s Creed III and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations (alongside Jesper Kyd and Hans Zimmer), has a new project. In collaboration with Hans Zimmer, Balfe is scoring THE BIBLE: an upcoming “epic mini series.” The show airs on March 3rd, but for a sample of the soundtrack, you can check out the first track: “Faith.”

Tomorrow night marks the end of the OCRemix Final Fantasy 6: Balance & Ruin ReMix Contest (v2). It sounds like a spiritual brother to the previous Balance & Ruin, which was a 5-disk set of fan-made remixes of the Final Fantasy 6 themes. Most of the project is complete, but they need a few more tracks and are willing to reward the best results.

The Rules: according to OCRemix and contest guidelines, create a remix using predominantly one Song off the list. The Voting: A panel of judges will select winners. The Prizes: 1st takes home “A physical copy of Balance & Ruin, the entire zircon discography, any three libraries from Impact Soundworks” and the others can be read on the site.

Deadline is February 28th at 11:59PM PST, and past that good luck to all entrants!
